OUR STORY
Major watches was founded by Richard Perrett. Richard served with the British Army as an engineer from 1983 to 2002. He started out in units doing the forward repair of main battle tanks and had the opportunity to do this for real during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. He also served in Bosnia, Australia, Denmark, Cyprus, Norway and Germany. Richard was awarded an MBE on 31st December 1999.
The first video upload to the Richard Perrett Watchmaker channel took place on Sunday 4th November 2017. For thirteen months Richard made videos and pretty much nobody watched them. Then on New Year’s day 2019 one of the channel’s videos ‘took off’. Audience growth has been strong ever since and early in 2023 the channel crossed the 100,000 subscriber milestone
2020 – MAJOR IS BORN
The first watch created under the Major brand was the SEA WOLF. Richard’s background in repairing Rolex watches for his channel was a big influence in the creation of this watch. With a lot of respect for the way Rolex make their watches Richard wanted to create a more affordable homage piece that retained many of the characteristics of a Rolex sports watch, was driven by a high quality, robust Swiss automatic movement and yet was attainable for servicemen and everyday working men and women for whom a Rolex was maybe too much of a financial commitment.
